Recruitment agency says IT is not all gloom

by John Bult last modified 2008-08-27 22:26

In an economy where there is less to shout about than usual, a recruitment agency in the IT sector has spotted a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

In amongst the gloom of the UK economy, Rethink recruitment, an IT recruitment agency in the UK has produced a survey with an optimistic outlook.  There survey of IT directors found that over 50% of directors where expecting to hire new staff in the next 20 months, great news for a recruitment agency.  On top of this they also believe salaries are rising sharply in amongst the backdrop of economic gloom.

The reason is primarily a skills shortage, there just aren't enough IT people to go around, so the ones that are there are commanding stringer and stronger salaries.  The trend appears to have began in the early 00's with number of IT undergraduates falling since then.  IT has been seen as a sector where the bubble burst and now it's all outsourced, often preventing new people entering on the ground level.  The end results is too few people in the middle ground earning higher and higher wages.  If you are a recruitment agency in IT, make hay while the sun shines!
