International recruitment agencies going strong

by John Bult last modified 2008-09-09 09:02

Antal international has produced research showing that on an international basis recruitment agencies are booming despite the global credit crunch.

Their survey is good news for international recruitment agencies and involved 1500 companies across 14 countries and asked a couple of simple questions, whether they would be hiring or firing in the coming 3 months.  In particular this research used management positions as a benchmark for general recruitment trends.

Almost with the exception of the UK, countries around the world do appear to be hiring aggressively.  Eastern European countries were showing figures well over 80% expecting to hire in the next 3 months, Hungary (74%), Bulgaria (89%) and Poland up at 93%.  In Africa and Egypt the picture was equally rosey with 86% expecting to hire in the next three months in Egypt and 84% in South Africa.  China and India were showing figures up in the high 90's.

It's depressing news for recruitment agencies in the UK with only 31% of companies  her expecting to hire.  This is consistent with the job cuts visible in recent months in the recruitment industry.  The only winners in the UK are those exporting staff to other nations.
