Graduate recruitment programs need in care industry

by John Bult last modified 2008-09-03 11:29

Graduate recruitment is not something that has traditionally been associated with the care industry, at least that is until now.

Graduate recruitment has always been associated with mainstream white collar work such as the legal and finance sectors.  The care industry would rarely have been quoted as a graduate career opportunity.  However, this is likely to change according to HR experts.  Many of the traditional graduate recruitment opportunities will now dry up as a result of the present economic slowdown.  In this case, both graduates and graduate recruitment firms will need opportunities elsewhere.

Moira Browne, a HR expert explains that due to age of the population advancing, there will be a rapidly growing demand for care worker staff, with predictions of staff levels reaching 2.5 million by 2025.  This will make the care industry a serious sector within the UK.  For this to happen, there will need to be a serious overhaul of graduate recruitment in this sector to make it an attractive career opportunity.  Any graduate recruitment company leading the way here stands to be rewarded handsomely in an economy with little else to smile about.
