Charity recruitment agencies pull from the private sector

by John Bult last modified 2008-09-22 09:05

It would seem that graduates in the private sector are approaching recruitment agencies in numbers to get out.

The credit crunch has indeed had far reaching effects to all in the UK.  One additional side effect of the situation is a build of graduates at the doors of recruitment agencies, looking to depart the private sector in search of security elsewhere.

One sector they apparently see as a more secure area is charity.  Natasha Waas of the recruitment agency People Unlimited explains that many graduates feel they will walk straight into a job in the charity sector, believing that a degree and some experience of the private sector should qualify them for the move.

Ms Waas feels they may be in for a ruse awakening and that recruitment agencies will have to work hard to manage their expectations.  The charity sector, like any other job sector want skills and experience to match.  If the demand for their vacancies rises, the will ultimately have more and more choice, making it a more competitive sector to enter.
